The citizen science project, promoted by the Department of Research and Universities in collaboration with the VHIR and the IEEC, will study how the human body responds during the total solar eclipse on 12 August. Citizens can still join the initiative by downloading the app and taking part with a smartwatch.

On August 12, Catalonia will experience exceptional mobility heading to the main eclipse observation areas: Terres de l'Ebre, Camp de Tarragona and Ponent. For this reason, the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) has prepared a special device to facilitate travel and guarantee road safety.

The initiative will bring educational activities about the eclipse to retirement homes, prisons, schools and social organizations so that all citizens can experience this exceptional phenomenon.

SOLARIS is a collaborative citizen science initiative that studies how the human body responds to the total solar eclipse on 12 August. The data collected will enable researchers to analyse the relationship between this phenomenon, emotions and the body's physiological responses.

The Government is organizing a conference in Terres de l'Ebre to coordinate the institutional, scientific and security deployment ahead of the event on August 12, 2026. The meeting was attended by international scientists, astronomical heritage managers and emergency and security officials.
